Work Experience

The Work Experience Program has been developed to provide students in grades 11-12, who are interested in law enforcement, an insight into policing. Their work experience range from 1 week to 1 month and is a great opportunity for students to get exposure to Vancouver’s crime trends and learn CPC’s response to these trends. Students will participate in foot patrol, crime prevention initiatives, community outreach programs, and attend court trials. It will help students have better understanding of their choice of career and in their future applications.

We accept placements as early as September, beginning of the school year. There is limited number of space so advance planning is essential. Placement opportunities are arranged through high school work experience coordinators. On-site training, supervision and evaluation are provided.

Interested in getting your work experience hours done at Colllingwood Community Policing Center? Visit your career prep teacher or guidance counsellor and ask them to notify you when placements become available.

Notifications on placements are sent out by our mailing list. Have your career prep teacher or guidance counsellor email info@collingwoodcpc.com to request to be added to our mailing list if not done so.

For Teachers

Work Experience placements are offered to all high schools in the  Vancouver Area (and beyond, if there is interest). Work Experience teachers are welcome to contact Partap Sahota, our Executive Director, for more information on the work experience program or to join the mailing list.
